Electronics Packing Spec

Anti-static, crush and moisture protection, using the OEM box and keeping records.

Electronics fear three things: static, crushing and moisture. The brand’s original box (with moulded foam) is usually the best cushioning you have.

Standard steps

  1. Anti-staticWrap the device/accessories in an anti-static bag or foam first.
  2. Prefer the OEM boxUse the original box, then an outer carton.
  3. No OEM boxWrap firmly in EPE/bubble and immobilise in the box.
  4. MoistureAdd a desiccant for long transit, especially in humid climates.
  5. Protect cornersRigid edge protectors on screens and protrusions.
  6. Seal & labelInsure and mark fragile.

Don’ts

  • Bare device against ordinary bubble (static risk);
  • Accessories rattling against the unit;
  • An oversized box that cannot immobilise the item.
Practical tip

For high-value electronics, keep a pack-photo/weight record at the station — a few seconds of evidence for after-sale disputes.

Price & estimate note

Equipment prices are indicative Australian retail bands in AUD for 2026. They vary by brand, retailer, promotion and over time, and exclude GST, freight and installation; the invoice at purchase prevails. “Seconds saved” are ranges from published warehouse-operations material — estimates, not guarantees. Time your own process with a stopwatch first. See Sources & method.

Fill choices are in void fill; liquid-in-box risk is in the liquids spec.
